The Manu Cultural Zone is the buffer area bordering Manu National Park — a stunning transition corridor where the high Andes gradually give way to the vast Amazonian lowlands. Unlike the Restricted Zone, the Cultural Zone is more accessible, making it the ideal entry point for first-time Amazon visitors while still delivering exceptional wildlife encounters.
Every Cultural Zone tour begins in Cusco and crosses the Andean cloud forest — a world of giant ferns, wild orchids, and misty canopies — before descending by river into the lowland rainforest. Along the way you'll stop at Aguas Calientes hot springs, visit a traditional coca leaf plantation, and spend nights at remote jungle lodges.
The centrepiece of these tours is an overnight stay in a camouflaged wildlife hide beside a saline mineral lick — where tapirs, brocket deer, and nocturnal creatures arrive after dark, completely unaware of your presence just metres away.
